Madden NFL 95 on SNES is one of those games that just feels right—even now. The pixelated players, the chunky sound effects when you nail a tackle, that satisfying little pause before the ball leaves the QB’s hands. It’s not as flashy as modern Madden, but there’s something about the simplicity of calling plays from a menu and watching your guys execute (or completely whiff) that still works.

You’ll recognize most of the teams and players if you’re into NFL history, though the rosters are hilariously outdated by today’s standards. The running game feels a little stiff at first, but once you figure out the timing, breaking through the line for a long touchdown is weirdly satisfying. And yeah, the AI cheats sometimes—good luck stopping the CPU on 3rd and long.

It’s not perfect, but if you’ve got nostalgia for 16-bit sports games or just want to see where Madden started, this one’s still a solid pick. Just don’t expect fancy animations or commentary beyond a robotic "TOUCHDOWN."
