Lufia & The Fortress of Doom is one of those classic SNES RPGs that flew under the radar back in the day—probably because it came out around the same time as some heavy hitters like Final Fantasy VI. But don’t sleep on it. You start as this kid (who looks way too young to be saving the world) and quickly get thrown into a fight against the Sinistrals, a group of villains who just won’t stay dead.

The combat’s pretty standard turn-based stuff, but the dungeons? They’re brutal in the best way. You’ll run into traps, hidden paths, and puzzles that actually make you stop and think. And this hacked version tweaks some of the original’s quirks—no more weird censorship, for one thing.

It’s got that old-school charm where the story starts simple but slowly pulls you in. By the time you’re halfway through, you’ll be weirdly invested in these characters and their messy, doomed world.
