Light Fantasy is one of those obscure SNES RPGs that never made it outside Japan—which is a shame, because it’s got this weird, dreamy vibe that sticks with you. The battles are simple turn-based stuff, but the art’s all pastel colors and floating islands, like someone mixed a fairy tale with an old watercolor painting.
You start off picking between a knight, mage, or thief (I went mage, regretted it immediately when the first boss wrecked me). The music’s got these soft synth melodies that somehow make grinding slimes feel relaxing. It’s not deep, but there’s something charming about how low-stakes it all feels.
If you’re into retro RPGs and don’t mind digging for fan translations, this one’s a neat little time capsule.
