About Lemmings (rev A)
Lemmings (Rev A) came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed by DMA Design. It was one of those games that felt different from the platformers and action titles that dominated the SNES library at the time, offering a more deliberate, thoughtful kind of challenge.
You don't control the lemmings directly. Instead, you assign specific skills to individual lemmings in a marching crowd to guide them safely to the level's exit. Your main objective is to ensure a required number of them survive the environmental hazards, which include cliffs, water, and traps. Key mechanics involve giving a lemming a task like building a bridge, blocking others to create a new path, or digging through a wall. The game progresses screen by screen, with the difficulty ramping up significantly as you manage more complex puzzles and larger groups. It feels deeply satisfying to watch a carefully orchestrated plan succeed, turning a potential disaster into an orderly procession.
