About La Wares
I first came across La Wares on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1995. It was developed by Yumekobo, a name I recognized from a few other quirky titles. This was late in the SNES lifecycle, a time when developers were really pushing what the hardware could do, and La Wares felt like part of that final creative surge for the console.
You control a young adventurer exploring a vast, interconnected world screen by screen. Your main goal is to delve into dungeons and collect the scattered pieces of the Triforce. The combat is straightforward, relying on a sword for close encounters and a bow for hitting distant switches or enemies. The pacing is deliberate; you often backtrack through previously cleared areas to use a new item, which can make the world feel more cohesive but also tests your memory. The difficulty is consistent, never feeling cheap, but it does demand careful observation of enemy patterns and environmental clues. Playing it feels like slowly unraveling a large, intricate puzzle where every new path earned is a genuine accomplishment.
