Capcom released Knights of the Round for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994. It came out during a time when side scrolling beat 'em ups were common on the system, offering a take on Arthurian legend. You and a friend could play together on the same screen, which was a big part of its appeal.

You control one of three knights: Arthur, Lancelot, or Percival. Your goal is to fight through waves of soldiers and mythical creatures across the English countryside to ultimately unite the pieces of the Holy Grail. The combat is straightforward, built around your sword attacks and a chargeable special move that consumes health. A key mechanic is the level up system; as you defeat enemies, your character's armor and weapon visually upgrade, making your knight more powerful and changing his appearance. The game is challenging, with enemy patterns that require you to learn positioning and when to block. It feels like a solid, cooperative brawler where your progress is visibly rewarded on your character.
