Okay, so Kirby No Kirakira Kids is one of those weird, obscure SNES Kirby spin-offs that never left Japan—but don’t let that scare you off. It’s basically Kirby meets a treasure hunt, except everything sparkles like someone dumped glitter on your CRT. You float around these bright, candy-colored stages sucking up gems (because of course Kirby inhales everything), and there’s this weird slot machine minigame that pops up between levels.
It’s not as deep as, say, Kirby Super Star, but the charm is off the charts. The music’s got that classic SNES Kirby bounciness, and some of the enemy designs are just ridiculous (in a good way). I spent way too long trying to 100% the gem collection, even though half the time I had no clue what the text boxes were saying. If you’re into quirky retro stuff, this one’s a surprisingly fun time-waster. Just don’t expect a full-blown Kirby epic.
