About Kinnikuman - Dirty Challenger
Kinnikuman: Dirty Challenger came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by Yutaka. It was part of that wave of early SNES games based on popular anime, a time when developers were still figuring out what the console could do. You don't see many people talking about it now, but it was there on the shelf alongside the more famous fighting games.
You control one of several superpowered wrestlers, like Kinnikuman or Terryman, and fight through a series of one-on-one matches. The main goal is to climb the ranks and become the champion. The combat uses a grappling system where you latch onto your opponent to execute throws and slams, and you build up a special meter to unleash a powerful finishing move. Matches are fast and can feel a bit chaotic, with the difficulty spiking noticeably against certain AI opponents. It feels like a scrappy, unrefined brawler that captures the over-the-top action of the source material.
