King of the Monsters 2 is one of those ridiculous, over-the-top SNES brawlers where you pick a giant monster—like a radioactive lizard or a cybernetic beetle—and just wreck entire cities while beating the hell out of other monsters. It’s not exactly deep, but who cares? You’ll be suplexing skyscrapers and chokeslamming opponents through power lines within minutes.
The pixel art holds up surprisingly well, especially when your monster’s special move sends the other guy flying through three buildings. The controls are simple—mostly just punches, grapples, and a screen-clearing super move—but the chaos is what makes it fun. Play it with a friend, and you’ll both be laughing at how absurd it gets.
It’s pure dumb fun, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want from an old-school fighting game.
