Kick Off on SNES is one of those old-school soccer games that feels a little rough around the edges now, but there's something weirdly charming about it. You get this side-scrolling view of the field, which was pretty unusual for soccer games back then—most went for the top-down or isometric angle. The controls take some getting used to, especially if you're coming from modern FIFA games, but once you figure out the passing and shooting timing, it clicks.
Matches are fast and chaotic, with players sliding all over the place and the ball bouncing unpredictably. The graphics are basic, sure, but the animations have this janky energy that makes every tackle feel dramatic. I remember spending way too long trying to master free kicks because the physics were just odd enough to keep messing me up. Not the prettiest or smoothest soccer game out there, but it’s got personality.
