About Kevin Keegan's Player Manager
Kevin Keegan's Player Manager came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1993, developed by Anco Software. It was one of many management simulations on the platform, a genre that was finding its feet on consoles at the time. The game offered a different kind of football experience compared to the straight action of its contemporaries.
You control a player-manager, handling both the tactical side from the dugout and controlling your own created player on the pitch. The main objective is to guide your club up through the divisions. You spend your time in menus, setting formations, buying and selling players, and managing club finances. On match days, you switch to a top-down view and directly control your player during the action, trying to score or create chances. The pace is methodical, with the difficulty coming from balancing your budget and maintaining team morale. It feels like a constant juggling act between your ambitions and the club's resources.
