Kendo Rage came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993 from a company called Datam Polystar. It was part of that wave of action games that tried to do something a little different on the system, a side scrolling adventure that mixed swordplay with some light platforming. You don't hear about it as much as the bigger titles from that year, but it had its own look and feel.

You control a high school girl named Jennifer who, for reasons the game doesn't spend much time explaining, fights through a demonic invasion with a magic sword. The main goal is to fight from left to right across each stage, clearing out enemies and searching for the exit. Your primary action is a basic sword slash, but you can also collect power ups that change your attack into different projectiles, like a fireball or a spread shot. The levels are structured screen by screen; you clear one area of monsters before you can proceed to the next. The pacing is fairly quick, though some of the enemy patterns and platforming sections can be tricky. It feels like a straightforward, energetic brawler where you are constantly pushing forward.
