Jurassic Park on the Super Nintendo came out in 1993 from Ocean Software. It was one of many licensed games from that period, trying to capture the movie's excitement on a 16-bit console. The game stood out because it didn't just follow the film's plot directly, offering a different kind of adventure.
You play as Dr. Alan Grant, and your main goal is to survive and find a way off the island. The game is split between a top-down view for exploring the overworld and a first-person perspective for the interiors of buildings and certain areas. You navigate screen by screen, collecting keycards, ammunition for various weapons, and dinosaur eggs, which are necessary to progress. The pacing is methodical, and the difficulty is quite high, with dinosaurs appearing suddenly and limited resources. It feels tense and isolating, like you are truly trying to outsmart a park full of predators.
