About Jurassic Park 2
Jurassic Park 2 came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, developed by Ocean Software. It was part of that wave of movie tie-ins that tried to capture the blockbuster's excitement on a 16-bit cartridge. You got a side-scrolling action game that felt very much of its time, built for the SNES hardware without a lot of the frills we see today.
You control Dr. Alan Grant, with a second player optionally taking the role of Sergeant Michael Wolfskin. Your main goal is to reactivate the park's systems and stop Biosyn Corporation from taking over. You move screen by screen through jungle and facility environments, using a selection of weapons like a pistol and a shotgun to fight soldiers and dinosaurs. The game is known for its high difficulty; enemies respawn quickly, and health is scarce. Navigating the maze-like levels while managing your limited ammunition creates a tense, methodical pace. It feels like a constant struggle for survival against overwhelming odds.
