About Jungle Book, The
I first played The Jungle Book on the Super Nintendo back in 1994, a release from Virgin Interactive. It was one of many platformers from that era, based on the animated film, and it fit right in with the colorful, side scrolling adventures that were common on the SNES.
You control Mowgli, the man cub, navigating through the jungle screen by screen. Your main goal is to survive the various levels and reach the end, which involves a lot of jumping across platforms and climbing vines. You collect red gems and special fruit to earn extra lives, and you can throw an endless supply of bananas to fend off enemies like monkeys and vultures. The game can be quite difficult, with precise jumps required and enemies that respawn quickly. It feels like a straightforward but challenging run through a familiar world.
