I remember picking up Jungle Book for the Super Nintendo back in 1994, a game published by Virgin Interactive. It was one of many licensed platformers from that era, a time when every popular movie seemed to get its own cartridge. You play as Mowgli, the man-cub, navigating through the vibrant, sometimes dangerous, levels of the jungle.

Your goal is straightforward: guide Mowgli from the start of each stage to the exit, which often involves a lot of climbing vines and swinging from branches. You have a couple of main ways to defend yourself; you can throw fruit at enemies like monkeys and Kaa the snake, and you also collect special gems that let you call Baloo for a powerful bear-assisted attack that clears the screen. The levels are designed screen by screen, so you methodically work your way through each area, dealing with enemies and environmental hazards. The pacing is generally brisk, though some later stages can get quite difficult with tricky platforming sequences. Playing it feels like a straightforward, energetic run through a familiar world.
