I remember playing The Jungle Book on the Super Nintendo back in 1994. It was developed by Eurocom, and it fit right in with the other licensed platformers of that era on the SNES. The game was based on the animated movie, so it felt familiar from the start.

You control Mowgli through a series of side scrolling levels, moving screen by screen through the jungle. Your main goal is simply to survive each stage and reach the end, fighting off enemies like Kaa the snake and Shere Khan. You have a few ways to defend yourself; you can throw unlimited fruit as a basic attack, and you collect special gems to unlock more powerful projectiles like red berries that bounce. The levels are fairly linear but require careful jumping and some backtracking to find all the collectibles. It's not an easy game, with some precise platforming needed to avoid pitfalls and enemies. Playing it feels like a straightforward, sometimes challenging trip through the world of the film.
