About Joe & Mac 2 - Lost In The Tropics
Joe & Mac 2: Lost in the Tropics came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, published by Data East. It was part of that wave of side-scrolling platformers that filled the SNES library, a straightforward sequel that didn't try to reinvent the wheel. You pick up right after the first game, with the two cavemen heroes on another prehistoric adventure.
You control either Joe or Mac, moving screen by screen through jungles, caves, and waterfalls. Your main goal is to rescue your captured cavewomen from a rival tribe. You punch and kick dinosaurs and other enemies, but the real fun comes from finding and using special weapons. You can pick up boomerangs that slice through the air, or stone wheels that roll along the ground. Some levels let you ride on the backs of friendly dinosaurs, which changes up the action. The game moves at a quick pace, and the difficulty can spike in certain areas, demanding precise jumps and attacks. It feels like a chaotic, colorful scramble through a cartoon stone age.
