Joe & Mac 2 is one of those SNES platformers that doesn’t take itself too seriously—and that’s why it’s so much fun. You pick between Joe or Mac (I always went with Joe because his blue hair just looks cooler), grab your club, and start smacking dinosaurs in the face. The levels are packed with goofy details, like riding pterodactyls or chucking coconuts at cavemen who clearly skipped leg day.
The controls are simple but satisfying—you’ve got your basic jump and attack, plus a spin move that feels weirdly powerful. And the bosses? Huge, screen-filling dinosaurs that make you scramble to figure out their patterns. The volcano level still gives me flashbacks—those lava jumps are brutal until you get the timing down.
It’s not the deepest game out there, but the cartoony chaos and two-player co-op make it a blast to revisit. Just don’t expect a deep story—you’re here to bonk things and rescue your cave girlfriend, and that’s honestly enough.
