About Joe And Mac - Caveman Ninja
Joe and Mac: Caveman Ninja came out for the Super Nintendo in 1991, published by Data East. It was part of that early wave of SNES games where developers were figuring out what the system could do, and it had a distinct look with its colorful, cartoonish prehistoric world. You don't see many games about cavemen with ninja in the title, so it always stood out on the shelf.
You control either Joe or Mac, two cavemen on a mission to rescue their kidnapped cavewomen. The game plays out screen by screen; you clear an area of enemies before you can move on. Your main weapons are bones and stone wheels that you throw, and you can find temporary power-ups like a fireball or a boomerang. The levels are linear but filled with pits and platforms, requiring careful jumps. It gets difficult quickly, with enemies swarming and some tricky platforming sections.
