Okay, so if you’ve ever read or watched JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, this SNES game is basically a love letter to the series—just with way more pixelated punches. You start off with Jonathan Joestar (of course), throwing fists in classic 16-bit fashion, but things get wild once Stands come into play. The translation patch makes it actually playable in English, which is a godsend because the original was Japan-only.
At first, the combat feels a little stiff—this is a '90s fighting game—but once you figure out the timing for Stand attacks, it clicks. Polnareff’s Silver Chariot has this ridiculous reach, and Dio’s time-stop is as broken as you’d expect. The sprite work is surprisingly detailed for an SNES title, especially when characters pull off their signature moves. And yeah, the story mode’s condensed, but it hits all the major beats from the manga.
Honestly, half the fun is just seeing how they adapted the insanity of JoJo into a fighting game this early. It’s janky in places, but in that nostalgic way where you can’t help but grin. If you’re into retro fighters or just a JoJo fan, this one’s worth booting up in an emulator.
