Jim Powers - The Lost Dimension 3D is one of those weird, ambitious SNES games that tried to do 3D before the tech was really ready—and somehow, it kinda works? You play as this space explorer dude jumping between dimensions, blasting aliens with a gun that feels way too slow at first (until you realize it’s balanced for the weird perspective).
The levels twist and turn in this faux-3D space that’s more confusing than impressive, but there’s something charming about how hard it tries. You’ll climb floating platforms, dodge spinning death traps, and fight bosses that look like rejected Metroid enemies. The music’s got that early ‘90s synth vibe, all bleeps and bloops that somehow stick in your head.
It’s janky, sure, but in that way where you keep playing just to see what bizarre level design they came up with next. Definitely not the smoothest SNES game, but if you’re into retro oddities, it’s a trip worth taking.
