Jim Power - The Lost Dimension in 3D is one of those weird, early '90s SNES games that tried way too hard to be flashy. You play as this space marine dude with a jetpack, blasting through levels that twist and turn in forced 3D perspective—like someone took a sidescroller and cranked the distortion dial to 11. The parallax effects are kinda cool at first, but after a while, the wobbly backgrounds just make it hard to tell what’s actually a platform and what’s just decoration.
Weapons feel decent—you start with a basic pea shooter but eventually grab spread shots and homing missiles—though half the time you’re just praying the awkward depth perception doesn’t get you killed. The music’s got that classic Euro-shmup vibe, all synths and intensity, which is honestly the best part. Not gonna lie, it’s janky, but there’s a weird charm to its over-the-top style.
If you’re into obscure retro curiosities, this one’s worth a look—just don’t expect it to play fair.
