About Jim Lees Wildc.a.t.s
I picked up WildC.A.T.S for the Super Nintendo back in 1995, a game developed by Beam Software that arrived during the console's later years. It was based on the Image Comics team, which felt like a natural fit for the era's abundance of superhero side scrollers. The game did not try to reinvent the wheel; it was simply another licensed title vying for attention on the crowded shelf.
You control one of several team members, like Grifter or Zealot, brawling through waves of Daemonite enemies across city streets and alien environments. The main goal is straightforward: fight from the left side of the screen to the right, clearing each stage of foes. Signature mechanics include using a special attack meter that builds as you fight, allowing for a powerful screen clearing move, and the ability to pick up weapons like energy blades dropped by certain enemies. The pacing is relentless, with enemies swarming constantly, and the difficulty can feel punishing if you are not careful with your positioning and health. Playing it feels like a constant, hectic scramble to survive the next onslaught.
