WildC.A.T.S came out for the Super Nintendo in 1995, developed by Beam Software. It was part of that wave of mid-90s games based on comic books, trying to capture the feel of the Image Comics team on the 16-bit screen. You got a side-scrolling brawler that felt familiar if you played titles like Final Fight, but with a superhero twist.

You control one of the team members, like Grifter or Zealot, fighting through levels packed with soldiers and mutants. The main goal is to stop Lord Helspont's plans, which involves a lot of punching, kicking, and using special attacks that drain your energy meter. You can switch between characters on the fly, which is useful because each has different strengths; some are better at close combat, while others have projectiles. The levels are linear, screen by screen brawls, and the difficulty can be punishing with aggressive enemy patterns and limited continues. It feels like a straightforward, sometimes frustrating, arcade-style brawler where managing your character's unique moves is the key to surviving.
