About Jelly Boy (europe)
Jelly Boy came out in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, a late release from Ocean Software during the platform's mature years. It was developed by Probe Entertainment and only saw a European release, so it was a bit of an obscure find for anyone outside that region.
You control a small, wobbly jelly character who can stretch and bounce through a series of colorful, themed worlds. The main goal is to navigate each stage from start to finish, avoiding hazards and collecting fruit to increase your score. Your jelly body is your main tool; you can flatten yourself to slip under low obstacles or stretch upward to reach higher platforms. The levels are filled with water and other liquids that change your consistency, making you bouncier or heavier and altering how you move. The pacing is generally quick, though some puzzles require you to stop and figure out the right transformation. It feels strange and silly to slosh around the screen, a lighthearted physics experiment in platformer form.
