About Jelly Boy 2 (japan) (proto)
Jelly Boy 2 is a prototype for the Super Nintendo that was never officially released. It was developed by Game Freak, the same team that later created Pokemon. This places it among the many experimental titles from the mid-90s that explored the SNES hardware, a follow-up to their earlier game known as Smart Ball in North America.
You control a pink, gelatinous character who can stretch and contort his body to navigate the environment. The main goal is to traverse a series of side-scrolling levels, solving environmental puzzles to progress. Your primary abilities involve stretching to reach distant ledges, bouncing off surfaces to gain height, and using your elastic form to squeeze through narrow passages. The game requires precise timing to manage your stretches and land bounces correctly, leading to a methodical pace with a moderate challenge. It feels like a tactile, physics-based puzzle where you are constantly manipulating your own shape to overcome obstacles.
