Jack Nicklaus Golf on SNES is one of those chill-but-deceptively-tough golf sims where you'll spend half your time lining up the perfect shot and the other half watching the wind completely wreck your plans. The pixelated courses actually have some nice details—rolling greens, water hazards that look way too inviting—and the swing mechanic feels surprisingly solid once you get the hang of it.
First time I played, I totally underestimated how much elevation matters. Smacked what I thought was a clean drive, only to watch my ball plop straight into a pond because I didn't account for the downhill slope. The game doesn't hold your hand, but that's what makes sinking a long putt or nailing a risky shot over sand traps so satisfying.
It's not flashy by modern standards, but there's something weirdly addictive about the rhythm of it. You'll start a round thinking "just one more hole" and suddenly it's been an hour. The music's got that classic SNES charm too—mellow enough that it doesn't distract, but with just enough energy to keep you focused.
If you like golf games that reward patience and punish rushed decisions, this one's still a solid pick.
