About Jack Nicklaus Golf (europe)
Jack Nicklaus Golf came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1992, developed by Sculptured Software. It was one of several sports titles on the platform that tried to bring a realistic simulation to the home console, using the famous golfer's name and endorsement to stand out among other games of its type.
You control a golfer from a top-down perspective on the tee, switching to a side view for each shot. The main goal is to complete 18-hole courses under par, managing your club selection and the effects of wind and terrain. A three-click swing meter determines the power and accuracy of your shot; timing is everything. You also need to read the green's slopes for putting, which can be tricky. The game moves at a deliberate pace, and the difficulty is noticeable, especially when judging long irons or recovering from sand traps. It feels satisfying to sink a long putt after carefully planning your approach.
