J.r.r. Tolkien's The Lord Of The Rings - Volume One (europe) Game
📅 1994 ✍️ Interplay Entertainment

This SNES adaptation of The Lord of the Rings is… well, let’s just say it’s got that early '90s Euro RPG vibe—clunky but weirdly charming. You start as Frodo (obviously) wandering the Shire, and within minutes you’re fumbling through turn-based battles with orcs that look like they’re made of Play-Doh. The sprites are tiny, the dialogue’s straight from the books, and the overworld music? Surprisingly moody for a 16-bit cartridge.
It’s not the prettiest or smoothest Tolkien game out there, but there’s something about the way it tries to cram the epic scale of Middle-earth into SNES limitations that’s kinda fascinating. Just don’t expect Shadow of Mordor—this is more like a board game with occasional pixelated Nazgûl jumpscares. If you’re into retro oddities, it’s a neat time capsule.
