J.League Super Soccer is one of those classic SNES sports games that feels way better than it has any right to. It's Japan's answer to FIFA, but with that early '90s charm—pixelated crowds, slightly stiff animations, and goalkeepers who either pull off impossible saves or completely whiff easy shots.
You pick from actual J.League teams (Verdy Kawasaki forever), and the gameplay's surprisingly tactical for its time. Through balls actually work if you time them right, and the refs let you get away with some hilariously rough tackles. The music’s pure hype too—that main menu track lives in my head rent-free.
It’s not perfect—the AI cheats sometimes, and good luck scoring from outside the box—but it’s way more fun than most soccer games from that era. Still holds up if you’re into retro sports titles.
