About J.league Soccer Prime Goal (japan) (rev A)
J.League Soccer Prime Goal came out for the Super Nintendo in 1993, published by Namco. It was part of that wave of early 90s sports games trying to capture the feel of a real league, in this case Japan's professional soccer league. You get all the official teams and players from that season, which was a big deal if you followed the J.League at the time.
You control a full soccer team, switching between players to pass, tackle, and shoot. The main goal is to win matches by outscoring your opponent. A couple of things stand out: the through-pass mechanic feels quite responsive for setting up breaks, and the shooting uses a power bar you have to time carefully. The game moves at a decent clip, not too fast but not slow, and the computer can put up a good challenge on higher settings. It feels solid and straightforward when you get a flowing move together.
