About J.league Excite Stage '96 (japan) (rev A)
J.League Excite Stage '96 came out for the Super Nintendo in 1996, a time when the console was still home to a lot of solid sports titles. It was developed by Electronic Arts and published by EA Victor in Japan, focusing entirely on the J.League, Japan's professional soccer league. This was a late release for the SNES, arriving when many developers were already shifting focus to newer, more powerful systems.
You control one of the official J.League teams, managing players on the field to score goals. The main objective is to win matches through passing, tackling, and shooting. A couple of its mechanics include a through-pass system for breaking defensive lines and a one-on-one mode that triggers when you face the goalkeeper. The pacing is generally quick, and the difficulty can be challenging, especially against the computer on higher settings. It feels like a straightforward, no-frills soccer game built for quick matches.
