Izzy's Quest for the Olympic Rings is one of those weird little SNES games tied to the '96 Olympics—you play as Izzy, the official mascot, bouncing around in a colorful platformer that feels like someone took Mario, stripped out half the polish, and slapped Olympic branding on it.
The first level throws you straight into a sprint across floating platforms, dodging weird enemies like sentient dumbbells. The controls are a little stiff, and Izzy’s jump arc takes some getting used to, but there’s a goofy charm to the whole thing. You’ll collect Olympic rings (of course) and occasionally stumble into events like archery or weightlifting, which play like mini-games with questionable physics.
It’s definitely not a hidden gem, but if you’re into retro oddities or Olympic nostalgia, it’s an interesting time capsule. Just don’t expect it to hold up against the SNES greats.
