Ishar 2: Messengers of Doom is a role-playing game released for MS-DOS in 1993. Developed and published by Silmarils, it is a sequel to Ishar: Legend of the Fortress. The game is a first-person dungeon crawler set in a fantasy world, featuring real-time exploration and combat.

Players assume the role of Zubaran, the new lord of Ishar, who is tasked with defeating the sorcerer Shandar after receiving a prophetic vision. It is possible to begin the adventure with a new party or to import a saved group of characters from the original Ishar. The game is structured around exploring a large archipelago, where each island is named after a companion of Jarel and features distinct environments. These include swamps, underground complexes, a city-covered landscape, mountainous terrain, and forested areas with treetop pathways. Progression involves navigating these 3D outdoor areas, towns, and dungeons while managing a party of characters who can be recruited throughout the quest.

Primary gameplay systems include real-time combat, party management, and exploration. The combat interface was revised from the first game for improved usability. New features introduced in this sequel include a day and night cycle that affects world interactions, such as shops being open by day and certain establishments operating only at night. Players can also utilize pet animals as allies in battles, create magic potions, and access a banking system. The game world is notably larger than in the previous title, and saving progress no longer deducts gold from the player's inventory.
