Iron Commando is one of those SNES beat 'em ups that somehow flew under the radar back in the day—probably because it came out late in the console's life. But man, it’s a blast. You pick between a martial artist, a wrestler, or this weird cyborg ninja (I always go ninja, obviously) and just start wrecking dudes left and right.
The first level throws you right into a city under siege, smashing through waves of thugs with satisfying punches, kicks, and screen-clearing specials that drain your health if you spam them too much. The sprites are chunky in that perfect SNES way, and the music has this grimy synth-rock vibe that somehow works.
It’s way more fluid than a lot of other brawlers from the era—you can juggle enemies, counter attacks, even pick up weapons like knives and pipes. And yeah, the co-op is chaotic fun, though good luck finding someone who won’t steal all your power-ups. Boss fights are ridiculous in the best way—one minute you’re fighting a dude on a motorcycle, the next you’re dodging a helicopter’s missiles. If you dig games like Final Fight but want something with a little extra flair, this one’s worth digging up.
