Iron Commando is one of those SNES beat-'em-ups that flew under the radar but actually has some cool ideas. You pick between two commandos—one’s a brute with a flamethrower, the other’s quicker with a sword—and just start wrecking dudes. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the timing, throwing enemies into pits or setting them on fire never gets old.

What makes it stand out is the weapon system. You can pick up guns, grenades, even a damn bazooka mid-fight, which is rare for this kind of game. The levels are pretty standard military bases and jungles, but the bosses are where it shines—some of them take up half the screen. It’s not Streets of Rage, but if you’re into 90s arcade-style brawlers, it’s a solid weekend playthrough.
