Irem Skins Game is one of those early '90s golf games that somehow nails the vibe of a lazy Sunday at the course—without the sunburn. You pick your golfer (I always went with the guy in the ridiculous hat), and suddenly you're squinting at pixelated greens, trying to judge wind speed from a tiny arrow. The controls are simple—hold the button for power, tap again for accuracy—but nailing a perfect shot feels weirdly satisfying.
What I love is how it doesn’t take itself too seriously. The animations are goofy, the commentary is basic but charming, and the "skins" betting system adds just enough tension to keep things interesting. It’s not the deepest golf sim out there, but for a quick round or two, it holds up better than you’d expect from 1992.
