About International Tennis Tour (japan)
International Tennis Tour came out for the Super Nintendo in 1992, published by Loriciel. It was one of the earlier tennis games on the system, arriving at a time when sports simulations were still figuring out how to translate real world movement onto a 16 bit screen. You get a straightforward tennis experience without the frills of later, more complex titles.
You control a single tennis player from an isometric perspective, moving them around the court to hit the ball. The main goal is to win matches by outscoring your opponent in sets. The game uses a three button control scheme for different shot types; you can hit flat shots, slices, and lobs, and you need to time your swings carefully. Positioning is important because your player has a limited range of movement, so you have to anticipate where the ball will land. The pacing can feel quite fast, and the computer opponents provide a decent challenge, especially on higher difficulty settings. It feels like a game of constant adjustment and quick reflexes.
