Inindo: Way of the Ninja came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1991, developed and published by Koei. It was part of that early wave of SNES role playing games, a time when developers were experimenting with how to translate complex PC strategy and RPG concepts onto a console.

You control a lone ninja survivor on a quest for revenge against the warlord Nobunaga. Your main goal is to build strength, recruit allies, and ultimately unite Japan's warring factions against him. The game plays out through screen by screen exploration of towns and dungeons, with turn based, party combat that lets you position characters and choose between sword attacks or bows. You spend a lot of time delving into dungeons, managing a growing party, and undertaking missions like spying for feudal lords. The pacing is deliberate and the difficulty can be steep, demanding careful planning for each new area. Playing it feels like managing a long, personal campaign where every small victory matters.
