About Illusion Of Time (europe)
Illusion of Time came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Quintet. It was part of that wave of action RPGs on the system that focused more on a single, continuous story rather than building a large party of characters. You play as a young boy named Will, who starts with a simple life in a small village before a comet's approach sets him on a globe-trotting adventure to prevent a catastrophe.
You control Will directly, moving him screen by screen through villages, caves, and dungeons. Your main goal is to gather the scattered parts of a magical stone to gain the power needed to stop the comet. Gameplay involves exploring these areas, fighting enemies with your sword and a later-acquired bow, and solving environmental puzzles. The pacing is deliberate, with some challenging boss fights and moments where you need to figure out how to progress. The overall feeling is one of quiet exploration, punctuated by moments of real danger and discovery.
