About Ignition Factor
Ignition Factor came out for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1994, published by Jaleco. It was part of that wave of games that tried to do something different with the hardware, moving away from pure platforming or RPGs. This one put you in the role of a firefighter, which wasn't a common premise at the time.
You control a member of a rescue squad, moving screen by screen through burning buildings. Your main goal is straightforward: find and rescue all the civilians trapped inside before either the fire or the structural collapse kills them. The signature mechanics involve managing your water hose to douse flames and break through debris, while also watching the integrity of the floors and ceilings. Floors can give way beneath you, and ceilings can collapse, so you are constantly assessing your path. The pacing is tense; you have a limited air supply and the fire spreads relentlessly. It feels like a race against a very active and dangerous environment.
