About Hurricanes
Hurricanes came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed by Arc Developments. It was part of that wave of mid-90s SNES games that tried to push the hardware with fast-paced action and detailed graphics, sitting alongside other shooters of the era without necessarily breaking new ground.
You pilot a helicopter through a series of side-scrolling levels, tasked with destroying enemy bases and vehicles. Your main objective is to clear each stage by eliminating all key targets, which often involves careful navigation and managing your limited ammunition. Signature mechanics include a multi-directional firing system that lets you aim independently of your movement, and the ability to collect power-ups that change your weapon from spread shots to homing missiles. The pacing is relentless, with enemies and environmental hazards appearing from all sides, and the difficulty can be punishing if you fail to master the dodging and aiming. It feels like a constant, tense juggling act between aggression and survival.
