About Hook (japan)
I first played Hook on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System back in 1992. It was developed by Sculptured Software, and it was one of many licensed games based on the Robin Williams movie that came out around that time. On the SNES, it fit right in with the platformers and action adventures that filled the shelves then.
You control Peter Banning, who becomes Peter Pan again, flying and fighting through Neverland. Your main goal is to rescue your children, Jack and Maggie, from Captain Hook. The game is a side-scrolling action platformer where you move screen by screen, using a sword to duel with pirates and a bow for ranged attacks. You explore levels like the Jolly Roger and Mermaid Lagoon, which have a dungeon-like feel with their interconnected rooms and hidden passages. The pacing is fairly quick, but some sections can be difficult due to precise platforming and enemy placement. Playing it feels like a straightforward, energetic dash through a familiar story.
