Hal’s Hole in One Golf on SNES is one of those chill, no-frills golf games that just gets it right. You pick your mode—whether it’s solo stroke play, a tournament, or even a head-to-head against the HAL Pro—and then it’s just you, the course, and maybe a few friends if you’re feeling competitive. The handicap option is a nice touch if someone’s way better (or worse) than everyone else.
What I like is how straightforward it is. No crazy power-ups, just clean golf mechanics with three difficulty levels that actually make a difference. Amateur’s forgiving, Pro will humble you fast. And if you pull off something wild like an eagle or (good luck) an albatross, you get a password to replay the shot later—perfect for proving you didn’t just get lucky.
It’s not flashy, but it’s solid. If you’ve ever wanted to zone out with some virtual golf, this one’s a great pick.
