Hokuto No Ken 6 is one of those weird, hyper-specific SNES fighting games based on the Fist of the North Star manga. You pick from a roster of characters who all look like they bench-press boulders for fun, then proceed to punch each other so hard their heads explode—literally. The animations are gloriously over-the-top, with muscles flexing and blood spraying in that classic 90s pixel-art style.
It’s not the deepest fighter out there, but there’s something satisfying about landing a Hokuto Shinken combo and watching your opponent’s health bar melt. The controls are stiff by modern standards, but once you get the timing down, pulling off Kenshiro’s signature moves feels brutal in the best way. Just don’t expect a balanced roster—some characters are straight-up unfair, which honestly fits the source material.
If you’re into retro fighters or just love absurdly macho anime violence, this one’s a blast for a few rounds with a friend.
