Hebereke's Popoon came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, developed and published by Sunsoft. It was part of that wave of quirky Japanese puzzle games that found a niche on the system, building on the world of an earlier Sunsoft title, Ufouria: The Saga. You control one of four characters from the Hebereke universe, dropping colored blocks onto a playfield to clear them. The main goal is to outlast your opponent, either the computer or another player, by creating chain reactions that dump extra garbage blocks onto their side. Its signature mechanics include the ability to slide blocks sideways after you place them and a special attack system tied to filling a meter.
