Harukanaru Augusta 3 is one of those deep-cut golf sims from the SNES era that flew under the radar outside Japan. If you played the second one, this is more of that—polished, slightly quirky, and weirdly addictive once you get into the rhythm of it.
The greens feel a little slicker than the last game, and there’s this new wind mechanic that’ll mess with your long shots if you’re not paying attention. First time I played, I kept overshooting the bunkers because I didn’t account for the slope changes. Classic Augusta.
It’s got that mid-90s golf sim vibe—not as flashy as some of the PGA Tour games, but there’s something satisfying about nailing a perfect swing with the SNES controller. The caddie advice is still in Japanese, though, so unless you’re fluent, expect some trial and error with club selection.
If you’re into retro sports games, this one’s a solid time capsule from the Super Famicom’s later years.
