Haou Taikei Ryuu Knight: Lord of Paladin came out for the Super Nintendo in 1994, a release from Banpresto. It was part of that wave of mid-90s Japanese RPGs that explored different settings beyond the standard medieval fantasy, in this case blending traditional swords and sorcery with mecha. The game was not widely localized, so many outside Japan discovered it much later through emulation or fan translations.

You control Adeu, a young knight who pilots a powerful ancient mech known as a Parutei. The main goal is to stop a dark force from reviving an evil god, which involves traveling across a world map and delving into towns, castles, and dungeons. A key mechanic is the dual-layered combat; you fight enemies on the world map in your Parutei, but inside dungeons, you proceed screen by screen as Adeu on foot, using a sword and magic. You collect various items and key objects to unlock new areas, and the pacing can be deliberate, with some challenging enemy encounters that require strategic use of your abilities. The experience feels like a methodical journey where your growing strength in both mech and personal combat slowly turns the tide against a formidable threat.
