Hammerlock Wrestling on SNES is one of those rough-around-the-edges wrestling games that somehow gets its hooks in you. The pixel art wrestlers have this exaggerated, almost cartoonish look—think bulging muscles and ridiculous costumes—but there's something charming about how over-the-top it all is.
At first, the controls feel a little stiff, like you're wrestling through molasses. But after a couple matches, you start figuring out the timing for grapples and suplexes. The real fun comes when you discover each wrestler's signature move. "Iron" Mike Boulder (yes, that's his name) has this absurd spinning piledriver that looks like it should snap spines in half.
It's not the deepest wrestling sim out there, but there's something satisfying about the way the crowd pops when you hit a big move. Just don't expect flawless reversals or WWE-level drama—this is pure, dumb arcade wrestling at its most nostalgic. Perfect for when you want to throw someone through a digital turnbuckle without overthinking it.
