Gunforce on SNES is one of those chaotic run-and-gun games where you immediately realize you're in for a mess of bullets and explosions. You start off with this beefy soldier dude (or a second player can jump in as another) and just start blasting everything—tanks, helicopters, weird alien-looking things. The controls feel a little stiff at first, but once you get used to the weight of your character, it clicks.
What I love is how ridiculous the weapon pickups get. One minute you're firing a pea shooter, the next you've got this screen-filling flamethrower that makes everything explode in satisfying pixelated fire. The bosses are absolute bullet sponges, but in that classic arcade way where you just keep hammering the fire button while dodging their absurd attack patterns.
It's not the smoothest SNES shooter out there, but there's something charming about its janky chaos. You'll either love the over-the-top action or get wrecked in five minutes and never touch it again. Either way, it's a solid time capsule of early '90s arcade madness.
